As part of our church's mission, we actively support two ongoing international projects: The Leprosy Mission and the White Eagle Project of Uganda River of Life Ministries, the latter of which one of our members serves as a trustee. Additionally, each year we choose a national or local charity to support. This year's nominated charity is 'Growing Together', a project dedicated to supporting individuals with dementia.
Funds for these causes are raised through fundraising events and individual donations, allowing us to extend our reach and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
On Boxing Day 1999, Duncan and Mary Kibaya, founders of the River of Life Church in Masaka, Uganda, welcomed 21 boys from the streets of Nyendo--an extremely poor trading area of Masaka--into their care. In 2005, the White Eagle Project expanded to support girls as well.
This initiative provides care for children who are particularly vulnerable due to being orphans, former street children, or those living in abusive and/or extreme poverty.
Wherever possible, the White Eagle Family Support Initiative helps families care for and educate their children. When family care is not an option, children find a home in the project's boys' and girls' residences, where they receive education, life skills training, and personal development opportunities. Through this holistic approach, the project empowers children to reach their full potential and build a brighter future.
